Introducing Our 2026 Music Series

Sound, Story & St Hubert’s

Set quietly in the Idsworth Valley beneath the South Downs, St Hubert’s Church is one of Hampshire’s most stunning churches.

Dating back to at least 1053, this Saxon-Norman church has been a place of prayer, gathering and music for almost a thousand years.

Inside, medieval wall paintings from the 1330s, among the most significant in Hampshire, sit alongside a modern fresco added at the millennium. Spaces like this were made for sound.

From early plainsong and simple psalms to hymns, anthems and choirs, music has shaped and been shaped by St Hubert’s for generations.

And so it’s fitting that this breath-taking church is the setting for a new series of musical performances this year where history, place and live music meet in the most memorable way.
